Due to a variety of problems there will NOT be any speedway this forthcoming week at Plymouth. Hopes of staging a KO Cup semi-final on Friday have been dashed and plan B of staging the Summer Spectacular on the Saturday, lost to the weather a few weeks ago, are now not possible.
The Saturday clash would have involved a Southern Development League triple header featuring the Plymouth BUDE BREWERY Demons against Reading Racers followed by Weymouth Wildcats v Reading then Plymouth v Weymouth plus 125cc demo races. These meetings will now be run as separate 2nd halves after the Devils forthcoming meetings.
Co-Promoter Mark Phillips says they have no alternative but for cancelling, “ we really wanted to keep the continuity of racing each week but we have tried all possible ways of sorting out a fixture but drawn a blank. The K O Cup semi-finals are still undecided whilst the Trophy Final awaits the outcome of the other section where it will either be Kent or Mildenhall we meet .”
“We had lined up the re-staging of the Summer Spectacular as an alternative on the Saturday but have hit all sorts of problems being able to stage that. So after much discussion we are having to miss having a home meeting this coming week. It is not what we want but it is how it is. Our next home meeting is therefore on Friday 1st September when the Devils meet the Lakeside Hammers in a league clash.”
