Devils V Hitmen Preview
The Plymouth Devils return to league action on Friday night (August 4th) at the St Boniface Arena when they take on the Buxton Hitmen (7.15 first race).
The two sides were due to meet in Derbyshire on Sunday but the rain caused the postponement of the fixture with the riders having travelled to get there. As yet there is no date for the re-staging.
The Devils are at full strength for the clash with Steve Boxall and Callum Walker back in the side after they were due to miss the away clash at Buxton a they were involved in the British Masters Grass track qualifier in Yorkshire. Walker had a superb afternoon top scoring in the qualifier and finishing third in the club championship final. He will be hoping he can continue that form on Friday where he returns to the reserve berth with Richard Andrews back up into the main body of the team.
Andrews had his best meeting of the season in the last home clash with Belle Vue with paid 15 points so he too will be looking to get back amongst the points back in the No. 2 berth.
Buxton bring in Birmingham’s Tom Bacon as a guest with Max Clegg on Championship duty with his club Edinburgh.
There is also a Southern Development League meeting with Weymouth Wildcats taking on the Kent Kestrels .
Team Manager Laurence Rogers is looking to his side to continue the form shown against Belle Vue , “ Having given the league leaders Belle Vue a tough contest and was one we should have won I am looking for a good win against Buxton. The racing against them was superb and I am sure that will be the case again on Friday and hopefully we will have a good crowd in to support the lads .”
