With the` retirement of reserve Rob Parker the Plymouth Devils have snapped up 16 year old William O’Keefe as his replacement, subject to BSPA approval.
The Ipswich based youngster has been filling in for Parker for the past few meetings and impressed the management and his team mates. He has been guesting for various clubs and recently scored 3 paid 5 for Stoke at the St Boniface Arena. His home debut ride against the Isle of Wight saw him follow home partner Callum Walker for a maximum 5-1 heat win.
The youngster is really pleased at the opportunity, “ I have really enjoyed my few meetings with the Devils and have been made to feel very welcome by the fans, management and my team mates. The team spirit at Plymouth is unbelievable and I am so looking forward now to being part of that.”Team Manager Laurence Rogers commented, “ I have known William and his family since he started riding on 125’s when he was 11. I have seen him ride at various tracks and he has attended the training schools I have run at Peterborough. He has made good progress this year and when Rob was injured I looked at the unattached riders available and went for William. The lads have all taken to him and have been helping him out . It is good to have a 1-7 again and I am sure he will continue his progress under the wing of the lads in our team.”
