With the unfortunate withdrawal of Kings Lynn from the 2017 National League the Plymouth Devils have replaced their scheduled visit on Friday with a fixture facing a National League Select side.
The Plymouth promotion , at short notice, were unable to get a league encounter swapped , so to keep the continuity of racing every week at the St Boniface Arena , reacted quickly to slot this meeting in.
Co-Promoter Laurence Rogers quickly looked at who he could approach to put out a competitive side to take on the Devils, who were on rampant form against Swindon last week. He has managed to assemble a strong side to take on the Devils .
Leading the Select side is Isle of Wight’s Ben Wilson , who had a good meeting guesting for Cradley recently at the SBA an dhe is partnered by George Hunter, who has just lost his team spot along with David Mason, who also lines up for the Select side, at Lakeside to accommodate their new signing of veteran Paul Hurry.
Eastbourne’s Connor Coles, a Devon lad, and son of former Exeter legend Michael and grandson of Bob, lines up at No. 5 for the Select.
Isle of Wight’s Chris Widman rides at No. 4 whilst Taylor Hampshire, the 2016 Midland Development Rider’s Champion is at 6 with the former Kings Lynn rider on the look-out for a new team with the demise of his club.
Devils No. 8 Saul Bulley completes the Select side who should give the home side a tough test.
The Devils will use Rider Replacement for Callum Walker, who has been called up to represent GB in the Under 21 Grass Track Championship in France and despite trying to find suitable flights misses both Friday and the Devils trip to Mildenhall on Sunday.
With the team’s new averages coming into force after this meeting young Henry Atkins has his last outing at reserve before moving into the main body of the team with Callum Walker swapping places with him.
