The Plymouth Devils were in rampant form as they took over top spot in the National trophy table defeating their rivals to win the section Swindon convincingly 56-34 at the St Boniface Arena.
The Devils scored solidly throughout the team with opening pair Steve Boxall and the rejuvenated Richard Andrews both posting paid maximums as the Devils team riding came to the fore . They started in the best possible way with opening maximum 5-1 heat wins from Boxall and Andrewsin heat 1 followed by a race win for Robert Parker and the team riding 16 year old Henry Atkins in the next heat to lead 10-2.
Swindon tried to bounce back but six 5-1 heat wins for the home side ensured the trophy points went to the Devils.
Atkins was voted by meeting sponsors BRIGGS EQUIPMENT as the Rider of the night as the 16 year old notched up paid 12 including a nomination for the final heat to cap a great night .
Team Manager Laurence Rogers was overjoyed at the win, “ A superb team effort with all the boys clicking was just what we needed. We are now top of the section and go the Isle of Wight Thursday looking to emulate our cup win there last month and secure the points. “
