Devils V Brummies Preview

Devils V Brummies Preview

Having had to cancel two clashes with the reigning National League champions Birmingham the sunshine is on order for Friday’s meeting between the Plymouth Devils and the Brummies.

The original clash was postponed by the referee 90 minutes before the start time and then the re-staging was hit by bad weather and actually cancelled 24 hours before the meeting! But the weather forecast for Friday is for sunshine so its third time lucky !!

The Brummies have their full side except for Alex Spooner coming in for injured reserve Kyle Roberts so have all their big guns ready for battle against an on form Devils side aiming for another win and three league points.

The Devils will again have Jamie Halder guesting for Saul Bulley , who is still having problems with his diabetes and blood sugar levels and be advised to rest. Halder had an impressive first meeting in Plymouth colours and is proving   a popular guest for several teams in recent weeks. He will also line-up in the Southern Development League for the BUDE BRWERY Plymouth Demons as they take on the unbeaten Reading Racers in the second half.  He will line-up alongside skipper Henry Atkins, Jordan Bull and Alex Spooner in the Demons side.

Atkins will be paraded before the meeting with his British 250cc Grass Track Championship trophy after winning the title recently . The 16 year old added that to his impressive list of achievements and the Exeter born and bred racer has certainly had a solid start to his speedway career in devils colours this year.

The Brummies are led by rising star Jack Parkinson-Blackburn with the 16 year old making great progress and holding the No. 1 spot down in his second season . He is backed up by Tom Bacon , Liam Carr , Layne Cupitt and David Mason with Taylor Hampshire impressive at the St Boniface Arena in the KO Cup match earlier this season.

Team Manager Laurence Rogers will be looking for another win but knows the Brummies will provide tough opposition, “ They are a solid side ad have a Plymouth track expert in David Mason in their ranks who was a rider we were interested in . We have seen To Bacon guest for a few teams so he has had practice on our circuit whilst Jack Parkinson-Blackburn triode well in the under 19 final. Liam Carr has been on good form recently so we have a battle on our hands but if the boys continue their good form we should see off their challenge and notch up another win and three league points.”
