Plymouth Devils 16 year old Henry Atkins was crowned British 250 Grasstrack Champion at Ledbury on Sunday afternoon.
The Exeter born and bred racer won all three of his races before the rain washed out the meeting so with maximum points he earned from the heats he took the title ahead of his rivals with former Sheffield rider Paul Cooper (former 3 times 250 Champion) finishing on the rostrum in third.
Atkins was naturally pleased with his success, “ I really wanted this title and to win it at Ledbury where the Palmer family, who have supported me for many years, was a great bonus. I must thank my dad for all his hard work on the bikes and for all he does for me and naturally all my sponsors. My engine tuner and mentor Andrew Appleton deserves special mention and it was great to hear from him immediately after the meeting saying how amazing it was and how proud he was of me …that means a lot to me as he is a legend himself .”
